Why is Personal Hotspot not working on my Billion Connect eSIM?
If you are having trouble turning on Personal Hotspot or sharing your mobile data with other devices while using a Billion Connect eSIM, please follow these troubleshooting steps in order:
1. Ensure Your eSIM Line is Turned ON & Selected for Mobile Data
- Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data / Connections) and select your Billion Connect eSIM.
- Make sure your Billion Connect eSIM profile is switched ON.
- Set your Cellular Data / Mobile Data source to your Billion Connect eSIM profile (instead of your primary physical SIM card).
2. Ensure Data Roaming is Turned ON
- Select your Billion Connect eSIM line in settings and ensure Data Roaming is turned ON. Hotspot tethering will not function if data roaming is disabled.
3. Set the Personal Hotspot APN (Crucial for iOS)
On many devices (especially iPhones), the Personal Hotspot APN is not configured automatically and must be entered manually:
- Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data) > select your Billion Connect eSIM line > Cellular Data Network.
- Scroll down to the Personal Hotspot section.
- In the APN field under Personal Hotspot, enter the exact APN name specified in your Billion Connect plan details. Leave Username and Password blank unless instructed otherwise.
4. Refresh Your Connection
- Toggle Airplane Mode ON for 10 seconds, then turn it OFF.
- If the hotspot option is still greyed out or not working, restart your device to apply the updated APN settings.
5. Check Fair Usage Policy (FUP) Restrictions
- Ensure you have not exceeded your high-speed data limit or triggered the local network's Fair Usage Policy (FUP), which may temporarily restrict or throttle data sharing under heavy network usage.
6. Still need help?
If your hotspot remains unavailable after following these steps, please contact Billion Connect Customer Support with your Order Number, ICCID, and screenshots of your Cellular Data Network settings.
